Augmented Reality in a New Era of Manufacturing
The Economic Forum published a white paper recently entitled: “A New Era of Manufacturing in the Fourth Industrial Revolution – $7 Billion of Possibilities Uncovered in Michigan.” The topics include Fourth Industrial Revolution technologies to drive competitiveness and sustainable growth in manufacturing such as Augmenting the Workforce with Augmented Reality/ Virtual Reality (AR/VR), Collaborative Robots, 3D Printing and Smart Digital Twins.
AR/VR technologies are key technologies that, when deployed within the right manufacturing applications, can drive significant cost savings and quality improvements. “Augmented workforces account for $2.6 billion of that value by increasing worker productivity, reducing training costs and streamlining the product design process. Augmented workforces can help bridge Michigan’s growing skills gap and create more than 7,000 jobs in the process.” To read more and download the report click on the following link.
