OPS Solutions Travels to India on Automation Alley Trade Mission

As one of the fastest growing enterprise AR companies, we have taken root not just in the United States, but in other regions of the world where manufacturing is strong.

After a successful MEDC-sponsored trade mission to China in July 2017, we knew our company had to take advantage of the opportunity again this year. With several different regions to choose from globally, we ultimately landed on India–one of the world’s fastest growing economies, and a country from which we receive a high level of interest in Light Guide Systems.

Hosted by Automation Alley–a nonprofit technology and manufacturing business acceleration association, and Michigan’s Industry 4.0 knowledge center–the nine-day India trade mission introduced OPS Solutions and nine other Michigan-based companies to new high-growth opportunities in New Delhi, Bengaluru, Mumbai and Pune.

To kick off the trade mission, representatives from U.S. Commercial Service briefed us on the India market, and the legal, cultural and economic considerations of doing business there. Then, I attended 3-4 meetings each day with potential buyers, end users and key players in the manufacturing industry.

While talking to the businesses in each city, I noticed that the industrial environment in India is incredibly entrepreneurial. Companies have tons of freedom to do things their own way and the business culture encourages innovation and continuous improvement.  Each of the companies we spoke with has a strong desire to lead their respective markets in terms of quality and efficiency, and we’re excited to explore how Light Guide Systems™ can help them achieve those goals.

Since we have existing India-based customers in the automotive space, I see a big growth opportunity in that sector. There is also an opportunity to break into the country’s burgeoning aerospace and medical manufacturing industries.

To help support the growth of OPS Solutions in India, we partnered with PARI Robotics to sell, deliver and support our enterprise AR technology. The global automation supplier has offices in India, as well as in Rochester Hills, Michigan–close to our own headquarters. Having Pari Robotics as a partner will prove important to the companies we work with in India–especially as the country ramps up their Make in India 2025 initiative.

I would like to thank Automation Alley and the Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) for giving OPS Solutions the valuable opportunity to attend this India trade mission, and for assembling a customized agenda to fit our needs. The trip will greatly help us drive growth and export sales to India.

If you do business in India and would like to learn more about OPS Solutions and Light Guide Systems, send us a message. We would love to work with you.
